Mayor Altay: “It Is Not Possible to Establish World Peace If Sanctions Are Not Applied to Israel, Who Committed a War Crime”

UCLG and Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay gave important messages at the “Intergenerational Dialogue” and “Presidential” sessions held within the scope of the UCLG Annual Consultation Meeting in Barcelona.

Addressing the municipalities of the world, Mayor Altay pointed out that “the sustainability of the cease-fire in Gaza should be among our priorities. I believe that it is not possible to establish world peace unless sanctions are imposed on Israel, which has been found to have committed war crimes by the International Criminal Court in The Hague, and on Netanyahu, who has been convicted of these crimes. On the other hand, we want the efforts to end the war between Russia and Ukraine to be concluded as soon as possible. Because if we cannot ensure peace in the world, it is not possible to protect our cities.”
