Konya has entered the carrot harvest season, with fields in districts such as Beyşehir and Seydişehir beginning to yield fresh produce. Known for its rich soil and favorable climate, the region plays a key role in meeting Turkey’s annual carrot demand.
Harvesting begins at dawn, with workers carefully pulling carrots from the soil and placing them into crates. Thanks to timely rainfall and favorable weather conditions, this year’s yield is expected to surpass that of the previous season.
Carrots grown in the fertile plains of Konya are not only consumed domestically but also play a significant role in exports. After harvesting, the produce undergoes washing and packaging before being shipped to local markets as well as countries across Europe and the Middle East.
Despite rising production costs, farmers remain hopeful about the season. They report good yields and emphasize that with increased support, both production and exports could grow even further.
