In the Konya Plain, 47% of the total area of 38,873 square kilometers is used as agricultural land. In the Meram district, farmers cultivate carrots on 80,000 acres of land.
In Konya, which meets approximately 65% of Turkey's carrot demand, women are individually harvesting carrots from the ground in recent days, despite the cold weather dropping to zero degrees Celsius.
The carrots, collected from the fields and transported to the factories by trucks, undergo careful washing before the packaging process takes place.
With sequential harvesting in carrot production, which accounts for 450,000 tons of the total 650,000 tons of carrot production in Turkey, the region manages to yield carrots for 10 months throughout the year.
