Konya's Oyster Mushroom Demand Soars

Demand for the oyster mushroom, which is grown in Konya, Turkey, is increasing day by day. The mushroom, which is in great demand for its taste and medicinal benefits, is exported to East Asian countries such as Japan and China.

Oyster mushrooms, which grow in Konya, have become an important source of income for farmers.

It is known that oyster mushrooms have antimicrobial, antioxidant, antidiabetic, and antitumor effects, and in this context, they are beneficial for protecting the liver, regulating the immune system, and lowering cholesterol and sugar.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has prepared the "Oyster Mushroom Action Plan" for the years 2022-2026 to ensure sustainable use of oyster mushrooms. The plan aims to increase the production quantity and efficiency of oyster mushrooms, support the establishment of new oyster mushroom production facilities, and promote the consumption of oyster mushrooms.

Konya Provincial Agriculture and Forestry Director Mustafa Kurnaz stated that oyster mushrooms are an important economic value for Konya, saying, "Oyster mushrooms are in great demand due to their taste and medicinal benefits. We are working to ensure the sustainable use of this mushroom."
