Selcuklu Municipality in Konya produced 2,925 tons of compost from recyclable waste in 2024.
With an exemplary initiative for a sustainable environment in Selcuklu, nature was preserved, and waste was given economic value.
As Turkey's first municipality to receive a zero-waste certificate, Selcuklu Municipality continues to set an example in environmental and zero-waste efforts by producing organic fertilizer from waste collected within its operations.
As part of its efforts in 2024, Selcuklu Municipality produced 2,925 tons of compost at its Compost Production Facility using biodegradable waste, including grass, tree branches, pruning waste, and decaying fruits and vegetables.
Selcuklu Mayor Ahmet Pekyatırmacı stated, "We continue to enhance our compost production each year, aiming to create fertilizer from organic waste. By doing so, we prevent large amounts of organic waste in our city from going to waste and generate both environmental and economic benefits through the fertilizer we produce."
