Pistachio Farming Grows in Konya Districts

Konya Metropolitan Municipality continues to diversify sapling support for farmers and producers. Konya Metropolitan Mayor Ugur Ibrahim Altay emphasized that increasing agricultural production and supporting farmers have always been among their top priorities in Konya, the center of agriculture.

Mayor Altay stated that agricultural support would continue to increase in 2025, as in previous years, to boost the income of farmers in their regions. He added, “Our goal is to enhance the welfare level of our citizens in their areas of residence. In this context, we provide various forms of support to farmers across our 31 districts.”

Mayor Altay highlighted that they provide grafted pistachio saplings with 50% grant support to producers in Hadim, Taşkent, and Bozkır districts, designated as pilot regions with microclimate characteristics. He stated, “In our support efforts, we prioritize crops with high returns that require minimal water. We particularly focus on pistachio cultivation, an alternative source of income in areas where land resources are limited and fragmented. Our aim is to save water in these regions and contribute to the local economy by achieving high income per unit area. I wish our farmers prosperity and abundance.”

Hadim Mayor Mehmet Çetiner emphasized that the district, due to its geographical location, is suitable for the cultivation of all kinds of fruits and plants. He added, “We thank our Metropolitan Mayor, who always stands by our farmers.”
