The support provided to farmers producing in Konya Plain, which is named the “capital of agriculture” by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, has increased 26-fold in the last 20 years, reaching 3.96 billion Turkish Liras.
Konya Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry, Duran Seçen, stated that their goal is to enhance sustainability, efficiency, and quality. Seçen also mentioned, "We have various support models for our young experts in agriculture."
With a land area of 40 million decares, Konya is the largest province in Turkey by surface area. Known as the agricultural capital, it has nearly 19 million decares of agricultural land.
In the Konya Plain, production spans a wide range of areas, including field crops, vegetable cultivation, medicinal and aromatic plant growing, and animal husbandry.
To enhance quality and productivity in production, rural development support plays a key role. Last season, farmers in Konya received 3.96 billion Turkish lira in support, with the assistance increasing 26-fold over the past 20 years.
