Konya City Theater Stages The Government Inspector for the First Time

Konya Metropolitan Municipality City Theater has brought Russian author Nikolai Gogol's classic 1836 play The Government Inspector to the stage for the first time in Konya. The play, which has been highly praised by theater enthusiasts, portrays the tragicomic events unfolding in a provincial town.


Konya Metropolitan Municipality City Theater continues to bring classic works from different cultures to audiences in Konya.


Adding another distinguished production to its repertoire, Konya City Theater staged Russian novelist and playwright Nikolai Gogol’s classic work The Government Inspector for the first time at the Selçuklu Congress Center.


Directed by Saydam Yeniay, the comedy play received great acclaim from the audience, with its stage performance, acting, and humorous language earning widespread applause.


Written by Nikolai Gogol in 1836, The Government Inspector centers on the tragicomic events in a provincial town of Tsarist Russia. The two-act, 130-minute play portrays how the news of an inspector’s imminent visit turns the region’s corrupt bureaucratic system upside down.


The play will be performed for the second time on Sunday, April 20 at 7:00 PM at the Selçuklu Congress Center.
