Konya Secures Second Place in Museum Visits in Turkey!

According to museum visit statistics released by TÜİK (Turkish Statistical Institute), Nevşehir took the first place in Turkey with 4 million 101 thousand visitors, while Konya came in second place with 3 million 596 thousand visitors.

 

In Istanbul, two and a half million people visited museums. İzmir had 3 million 250 thousand visitors, and Denizli had 2 million visitors, securing their positions in the rankings.

 

 

Turkey has a total of 211 museums across the country. Istanbul has the highest number of museums, with 15, followed by İzmir with 10, Antalya with 10, Ankara with 8, Konya with 10, Muğla with 7, and Karaman with 2 museums, according to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. According to TÜİK's announcements, in the year 2022, a total of 14,890,000 people visited museums in Turkey. When archaeological sites are included, this number increases to a total of 30,932,000 visitors.

 

 

The number of museums increased by 6.4% in 2022 compared to 2021, reaching a total of 552 museums. Out of these, 211 are under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, while 341 fall under the category of private museums. The number of archaeological sites reached 144.
