Aronia that he started to grow for his wife with cancer has become a source of income

In Konya, Tahsin Tosun has started to grow aronia for his wife with cancer and now it is a source of income for him. He brought the young trees of aronia from abroad and they are known as “super fruit”.  
Tahsin Tosun, who lives in Konya, heard about the benefits of bush fruit tree aronia which has a purple grape-like fruit. Aronia is rich for antioxidant and he found about it when his wife got cancer 6 years ago. He brought 200 young trees from Ukraine and set up a 6 decares of garden in Kurşunlu neighbourhood of Sarayönü district.  
His wife started to consume the fruit beside her medical treatment. When she got healthy again, Tosun decided to enlarge his garden.
‘’ARONIA IS OUR ONLY SOURCE OF INCOME’’
Tosun stated that they knew about aronia due the health problems of his wife. He expressed that “we set up our garden about 6 years ago. We both consume the fruit ourselves and offer it to the people in need.”
‘’IT BRINGS-IN MORE THAN OTHER PLANTS’’
Although he has been planting the fruit trees in relatively a small garden, it brings-in a lot. Tosun stated that “the farmer who grows aronia gets more income than the others in Turkey for per decare. Today, the resale price for per kg is 120 TL for the fruit, 380 TL for the dried fruit. We are a family of four and we can easily make a living from aronia.”   
We produce the vinegar and jam of aronia at the same time. We also sell frozen fruit. It is our sixth year of production and we get 4 kilograms from a tree. We hope to get 5 tons of fruit in total.”
