The foundation of the KONYARAY Suburban Line, which will be brought to the city by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and Konya Metropolitan Municipality, has been laid.
Speaking at the groundbreaking program held at Konya Train
Station, Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay stated that
“Konya Train Station, Selçuklu Train Station and the airport will be connected
to each other for the first time by a rail system. When the work on the rail
systems is completed, the bus station, airport and train stations will be
connected by a rail system on the same route. One of the most important
stakeholders of this project, which we will realize with a total investment of
2 billion 300 million TL, is Konya Metropolitan Municipality. When the system
is completed, the vehicles will be provided by our Metropolitan Municipality,
and we hope to put the operation at your service together with our State
Railways.” The total length of the KONYARAY Project is 45.9 kilometers. The
line length of the stage whose foundation has been laid is 17.4 kilometers. In
the first phase of the project, which will serve 90 thousand passengers daily,
13 station buildings will be built.
