Established by the Konya Metropolitan Municipality in 2020, the Güneysınır Distillation Plant supports local farmers by processing medicinal and aromatic plants such as lavender, thyme, and sage.
Farmers bring their harvested crops to the facility, where essential oils are extracted. This initiative enables the production of high-quality, high-value oils, contributing significantly to the region's economic development.
Lavender oil is widely used in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, food, and cleaning industries, while lavender honey stands out as a valuable product.
To provide additional income for farmers, the Konya Metropolitan Municipality produces various lavender-based products under the brand name “LAVONYA.” These products include lavender soap, cologne, cream, oil, sachets, and room fragrances. Research and development efforts are ongoing to expand the range of products.
Lavender cultivation not only supports the local economy but also draws interest from both farmers and visitors to the region.
