In Konya, 97% of exports are composed of industrial products

The Konya Business World Meeting was held with the participation of Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz.

President of the Konya Chamber of Industry, Mustafa Büyükeğen, provided information about Konya's import-export figures.

Büyükeğen stated that despite all the challenging conditions in the economy, rising costs, instability and wars in our neighboring region, they continue to maintain their determination in production and exports. He said, "Konya, once known as the agricultural capital, has now become one of Turkey's most important production centers with 12 organized industrial zones, more than 100 industrial sites. We have a strong production infrastructure in every sector, from machinery to automotive, defense to food, and from shoes to furniture."

Büyükeğen stated, "In 2002, Konya, which had only $130 million in exports, has increased its exports 25 times in the last 20 years, reaching $3.2 billion in exports to 194 countries last year."

Büyükeğen conveyed that 97% of the exports consist of industrial products, stating that Konya is the fifth province in Turkey with the highest number of issued capacity reports.
