During the pandemic period, organized industrial zones have been the first address of investors operating in many fields such as white goods, textiles, packaging and food. Depending on the increase in demand in the OIZs, new parcel allocations were made to the existing areas on the one hand, and the establishment of new OIZs also accelerated. Memiş Kütükcü, President of the Organized Industrial Zones Supreme Organization (OSBÜK), stated that “Organized Industrial Zones continues to be the favorite of investors all over the country. Last year, over 1,800 new parcels were allocated in the OIZs and 15 new OIZs were opened. Kütükçü also stated that the expansion works of the OIZs have been carried out in many cities such as Eskişehir, Kırklareli, Bursa, Diyarbakır and Konya. According to the April OSB inventory of OSBÜK, the total area size of the OIZs reached 98.884 hectares, while the number of industrial parcels reached 54.528. While the allocation of 42 thousand of this number is being made, the construction work of 3.500 still continues.
The number of OIZs reached 350
Memiş Kütükçü stated that “There is no city without OIZ in Turkey.” He shared the following information about the OIZs established last year: Last year; 15 OIZs were established in 14 cities in Adana, Antalya, Aydın, Edirne, Hakkari, Kocaeli, Kütahya, Malatya, Manisa, Mardin, Sivas, Tekirdağ, Uşak and Yozgat. This year, until now, the establishment stages of our 3 OIZs, called Kahramanmaraş Elbistan Agriculture-Based Specialization (Fattening) OIZ, Niğde 2nd OIZ, Elâzığ Agriculture-Based Specialization (Fattening) OIZ, have been completed. Thus, the number of OIZs in our country has reached 350 up to now. "
Investors benefit from incentives
Kütükçü stated that “OIZs, which are Turkey's most planned industrial areas, offer significant opportunities for investors with a concept of investment advantages which are away from the bureaucracy and has a one-stop-shop service. For example, an investment to be made within the OIZ benefits from the investment incentive advantages of a sub-region compared to an investment to be made outside the OIZ. This offers advantages to our investors in areas such as customs tax, corporate tax, SSI employer share support, and interest support. In addition, there are important incentives such as property tax exemption, discounted land allocation, and fee exemption for our companies within the OIZ. Besides these advantages, Many of our OIZs have now become living areas where not only factories, but also techno-cities, vocational high schools, fire brigades, common health and safety units, drinking water and waste water treatment facilities and social areas.
Electricity consumption of OIZs increased by 8% in the first quarter
Memiş Kütükcü stated that “Electricity consumption has increased in organized industrial zones. The good news from OIZs cheers us up and gives power to Turkey. This increase in electricity consumption means a strong increase in production. The good news from OSBs in which 64.000 enterprises operate gives power to Turkey. Turkey's electricity consumption in our power producing OSB, increased 8% in the first quarter of the year. This means a strong increase in production. I congratulate all our industrialists and their employees.”
