Karatay Municipality Expands Renewable Energy with Ismil Solar Plant

One of the major renewable energy investments of Karatay Municipality, the Ismil Solar Power Plant project, has been completed and officially put into operation. As Karatay’s fifth Solar Power Plant, the project has started generating energy.

Built on a 105,000-square-meter site in Ismil Neighborhood, the facility has an installed capacity of 6 MW. Operating with more than 13,000 solar panels, the plant has the capacity to meet 1.5 times the total energy needs of Karatay Municipality.

With the project now operational, energy production has begun, and it is expected to generate economic value worth millions of Turkish liras. While providing significant financial savings for Karatay Municipality, surplus energy production will also contribute to the city’s economy. The Ismil Solar Power Plant will serve as a strong example of environmentally friendly energy generation by reducing carbon emissions.

Speaking on the occasion, Hasan Kılca, Mayor of Karatay, stated that Karatay Municipality is moving forward with steady steps toward becoming fully self-sufficient in energy. Emphasizing the economic and environmental benefits of renewable energy investments, Mayor Kılca underlined that solar energy is a strategic resource for municipalities.
