Konya Chamber of Industry President Mustafa Büyükeğen announced that Konya achieved over 799 million dollars in exports in the first quarter of 2023. He said, "As a city, we have reached the highest export figures for the first quarter of all time. Hopefully, we will break a new export record at the end of the year."
The Turkish Exporters Assembly announced the export figures for the month of March. Konya Chamber of Industry President Mustafa Büyükeğen evaluated Konya's export figures and stated that Konya increased its exports by 3.9% in the first quarter and achieved exports worth 799 million 38 thousand dollars.
President Büyükeğen stated that Konya's industrialists achieved the highest export figures in the January-March period of all time. He said, "Despite the negative impact of the earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş, which are considered the disaster of the century, Konya's industrialists continue to produce and export. As a city, we increased our exports by 8.1% in March of this year and achieved exports worth 309 million and 763 thousand dollars. In the first quarter, where Turkey's exports increased by 2.5%, we managed to increase our exports by 3.9% and achieved exports worth 799 million 38 thousand dollars. Thus, we have achieved the highest export figures in the January-March period of all time. I sincerely congratulate all our industrialists and employees who contributed to this success."
President Büyükeğen also provided information about the sectors in which Konya achieved the highest exports in the first quarter. He said that the machinery and parts sector ranked first, followed by the automotive industry in second place. Büyükeğen stated, "The machinery and parts sector ranked first in our exports with 212 million 897 thousand dollars. The automotive industry followed with 181 million 176 thousand dollars in second place, and the cereal, legumes, oilseeds, and their products sector came in third with 82 million 923 thousand dollars. All of these sectors that share the top three places in our exports have shown an increase."
Büyükeğen stated that in the first quarter of the year, Russia ranked first in Konya's exports with 76 million 728 thousand dollars. He also listed the top 10 countries where Konya made the most exports in the January-March period as follows: "Russia, Germany, Iraq, USA, Italy, Poland, Saudi Arabia, Israel, Uzbekistan, and Iran were the countries where Konya made the most exports during this period."
