Konya Contributes 300 Million TL to the National Economy

In the last 21 years, 4 hydroelectric power plants have been put into operation in Konya, providing an annual energy production of 117.25 million kWh.

These facilities, with a capacity of 40 MW each, contribute 300 million TL annually to the national economy solely in the energy sector.

DSI General Manager Mehmet Akif BALTA stated, “Especially modern irrigation projects are extremely important for our country. With the 76 irrigation facilities we have built in Konya in the last 21 years, we have opened up 1 million 511 thousand 890 hectares of agricultural land for irrigation.”

Balta stated, "In the last 21 years, we have constructed 25 dams and 34 ponds in Konya, thus reaching a water storage capacity of 1 billion 849 million cubic meters."
