Konya Metropolitan Municipality has added a new investment to its renewable energy initiatives.
Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay stated that they have implemented exemplary projects in environmental investments and renewable energy. He announced that they have now received approval for a Solar Power Plant (SPP) project with a capacity of 70 MW, which will meet the electricity needs of over 58,000 households.
Mayor Altay noted that the Solar Power Plant, to be established on approximately 100 hectares in the Saraçoğlu neighborhood with a budget of around 2 billion TL, will be one of Konya's largest renewable energy investments. He emphasized that this project, crucial for a sustainable future, will contribute significantly both to meeting the electricity needs of over 58,000 households and to reducing carbon emissions.
Mayor Altay stated that they will continue to implement exemplary investments in renewable energy, as in all areas, following the principle of "Konya Model Municipality." He expressed his gratitude to the Minister of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change, Murat Kurum, and İLBANK General Manager, Recep Türk, for their support in the project.
