The 3rd Karatay International Islamic Economics and Finance Conference has begun at KTO Karatay University in Konya, focusing on the theme “Innovations and Digital Transformation in Islamic Finance.”
The event explores key topics such as sustainability, ethical finance, participation banking, sukuk, Islamic insurance, blockchain, artificial intelligence, big data, and automation, combining both theoretical discussions and practical applications.
The opening program featured speeches by prominent academics and professionals, including KTO Karatay University Rector Prof. Dr. Fevzi Rifat Ortaç, who emphasized that Islamic finance contributes to social justice, sustainable development, and humanitarian values through practices like zakat, waqf, and qard al-hasan. With participation from over 100 scholars representing 13 universities and 10 countries, the conference includes 16 sessions, panels, and workshops.
The event also hosts the 3rd International Islamic Finance Olympiad (IIFO), where teams from 10 universities and 5 countries present innovative ideas to bridge theory and practice. Highlighting Konya’s historical and intellectual heritage, speakers underlined the growing global interest in Islamic finance and the importance of international collaboration. The conference runs from July 16–18, 2025, while the IIFO competition will take place from July 17–19, 2025.
