Konya Must Protect Production and Diversify Its Exports

Stating that the industrial sector is struggling with access to finance, cost pressures and fluctuations in external demand, KTO President Selçuk Öztürk said that Konya must protect its production capacity, diversify its exports and increase digitalization.

The Konya Chamber of Commerce (KTO) Ordinary Assembly Meeting for June was held. Addressing the assembly members at the meeting, KTO Chairman of the Board Selçuk Öztürk evaluated developments in the national economy and made statements regarding the work carried out by the Konya Chamber of Commerce.

President Öztürk stated that the Turkish economy recorded 2.5 percent growth in the first quarter of 2026 and noted that it is important for the economy to maintain its growth trend despite uncertainties in the global economy, geopolitical risks and tight financing conditions. Pointing out that the Turkish economy has grown uninterruptedly for 23 quarters, Öztürk emphasized that this success is the achievement of the business world, which has not given up on production, investment and trade.

“PRICE STABILITY LIES AT THE FOUNDATION OF SUSTAINABLE GROWTH”

Reminding that annual inflation stood at 32.6 percent in May, Öztürk said that the disinflation process is continuing, but that the fight for price stability has not yet been completed. Expressing that the primary expectations of the business world are increased predictability, lower financing costs and a stronger investment environment, Öztürk stated the following: “It is of great importance that the downward trend in inflation becomes permanent. Because price stability lies at the foundation of sustainable growth, strong production and permanent export growth.”

Stating that the industrial sector is facing significant problems such as access to finance, cost pressures and fluctuations in external demand, Öztürk said that Konya must protect its production capacity, diversify its export markets and increase its digitalization capabilities in this process. Noting that, as the Konya Chamber of Commerce, they continue their efforts to help members adapt to changing economic conditions, Öztürk stated that they will continue to stand by their members in terms of access to new markets, financing opportunities and increasing competitiveness.

Emphasizing that the Konya Chamber of Commerce operates not only as a professional organization but also as a strong institution that shapes the economic vision of the city, Öztürk stated that the KTO Education and Health Foundation, KTO Karatay University, KARSEM, KOSAM and the Arbitration and Mediation Center make significant contributions to Konya. Öztürk stated that important gains will be achieved in the field of health through KTO Karatay University’s new goals and the investment in the Faculty of Medicine Hospital, and said that the Konya International Fair Center continues to contribute to the city’s foreign trade and promotional power with its growing capacity.

KTOTEK HAS TURNED INTO A STRONG TECHNOLOGY AND EDUCATION ECOSYSTEM

President Öztürk noted that KTOTEK, one of the most strategic investments implemented in recent years, has today turned into a strong ecosystem that includes important structures such as the Vocational Training Center, Model Factory, Foreign Trade Center, Smart Technologies Center, Cyber Security Center and Energy Efficiency Center. He said: “Our concern is not to manage today, but to leave lasting works for Konya’s tomorrow.” President Öztürk stated that the Konya Chamber of Commerce will continue to serve its members with the same excitement and determination.

Within the scope of the June Assembly Meeting, the “What the World Is Talking About” presentation prepared by the Development-Oriented Strategic Research Center (KOSAM) was delivered. At the meeting, President Öztürk also provided assembly members with comprehensive information on “Konya Chamber of Commerce June Activities,” “KTO Karatay University,” “KTO Technology and Education Campus (KTOTEK)” and “AKİTEK June Activities.”
