Konya Opens 4th Bedesten Shopping Days

The 4th Historical Bedesten Shopping Days, organized by Konya Metropolitan Municipality, has opened its doors.

Speaking at the opening, Konya Union of Chambers of Tradesmen and Craftsmen (KONESOB) President Muharrem Karabacak recalled that the historic Bedesten has been the heart of trade for centuries and said, “I would like to thank our Metropolitan Mayor for the attention he has shown to our tradesmen and craftsmen so far.”

Konya Metropolitan Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay stated that on this blessed day they are marking the beginning of a meaningful event, adding that they are organizing the fourth edition of the Bedesten Shopping Days in the heart of Konya.

Konya Governor İbrahim Akın also said, “We are in a very special place where the history, culture, and trade of Konya are kept alive. When you enter this place, you have the opportunity to connect the past with the future. This year marks the fourth edition of the Bedesten Shopping Festival. Our visitors will not only have the chance to shop but also to help revive the handmade, painstakingly crafted works that are on the verge of being forgotten. I would like to thank everyone involved, especially our Metropolitan Mayor. I wish it to be a successful event and invite all our fellow citizens to join us here.”

Following the opening, protocol members served Toyga Soup, one of the important flavors of traditional Turkish cuisine, to citizens and guests.
