Towards the end of the month of Ramadan in Konya, there was
a busy schedule in the candy and Turkish delight factories, resulting in a 100%
increase in production.
Murat Özgüven, the President of a company that has been
producing candy and Turkish delight for 3 generations in Konya and exports to
40 countries, said that their workload reached its peak as the eid approached.
Kadir Kağnıcıoğlu, the President of the Konya Pastry Chefs
Trade Association, stated that there has been a 100% increase in production in
the industry.
Kağnıcıoğlu mentioned that manufacturers are producing
holiday candies at a very high pace, saying "As Konya, we produce over 250
tons of Turkish delight and candy daily. The workload is very intense. There
has been a 50% increase in production compared to last year. Last year, the
pandemic reduced demand and made it difficult to procure sugar, but it has
become easier this year."
