Mustafa Büyükeğen, President of the Konya Chamber of Industry, said that Konya ranks as Turkey’s fourth-largest city in defense and aviation industry exports.
Mustafa Büyükeğen, President of the Konya Chamber of Industry, emphasized that Konya ranks fourth in Turkey after Ankara, Istanbul and Eskişehir in defense and aerospace industry exports, and highlighted that the city’s exports in the sector have increased 6.2 times over the past 10 years.
Mustafa Büyükeğen, President of the Konya Chamber of Industry, said, “In 2015, our city exported 26.7 million dollars in the defense and aerospace industry. By 2024, this figure has reached 165.7 million dollars. In the first six months of this year alone, we achieved 96.3 million dollars in defense industry exports. In addition, the number of our companies listed as Approved Suppliers by the General Directorate of Military Factories has reached 51. Hopefully, these numbers will rise even further in the coming period. In this way, we will contribute more strongly to our country’s efforts in developing a national and domestic defense industry.”
Büyükeğen stated that they are working intensively to further develop the defense industry ecosystem in Konya and emphasized that the Konya Defense Industry Supplier Meetings, the largest defense industry gathering in Anatolia, is one of the key initiatives supporting this effort.
Mustafa Büyükeğen stated that they will organize the 8th edition of the Konya Defense Industry Supplier Meetings this year and said: “As the Konya Chamber of Industry, we aim to strengthen our city’s contribution to domestic and national production in the sector and to build a much stronger defense industry ecosystem. In this context, we are carrying out a wide range of initiatives. From November 5 to 7 this year, under the auspices of the Presidency of Defense Industries, we will hold the 8th Konya Defense Industry Supplier Meetings at TÜYAP Konya Fair Center, bringing together all stakeholders of the sector in our city.”
