Konya to Boost Economy with New Investment

The foundation of the Heavy Maintenance Urban Transformation and 56th Maintenance Factory Directorate, which will be brought to the city within the scope of the protocol made between the Konya Metropolitan Municipality and the Ministry of National Defense, was laid at a ceremony.

The groundbreaking ceremony took place in Selçuklu Aşağı Pınarbaşı neighborhood, where the facility will be relocated. Speaking at the foundation-laying event, Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay discussed four important urban transformation projects they are implementing in Konya.

Mayor Altay stated, “Starting with Mevlana Bazaar and Altın Bazaar, which Konya has been talking about for years, continuing with Stone Buildings and Alaaddin Facade Improvements, and progressing with the Grand Larende Transformation, where we handed over business premises to our tradesmen in collaboration with Meram Municipality last week, we are now placing the pieces of the puzzle one by one in the project. Hopefully, these urban transformation efforts carried out at 20 different points will be a symbol and seal of Konya's status as the capital of Selçuklu.”

The 56th Maintenance Factory Directorate, with a total construction area of 140,000 square meters, will include 6 warehouses, a gatehouse building, a building for combat weapons section, a helicopter runway, a weapons workshop, a direct intervention building, and an additional administrative building. In outdoor facilities, there will be 3 basketball courts, 2 service support sites, a football field, and a running track.
