The 3rd "Historical Bedesten Shopping Days," organized by the Konya Metropolitan Municipality, has begun.
A parade was held within the Bedesten, accompanied by the Konya Metropolitan Municipality's janissary band. Following the parade, the "Historical Bedesten Shopping Days" was officially opened with a prayer by Konya Provincial Mufti Ali Öge and a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
In his speech at the opening, Muharrem Karabacak, the President of the Konya Union of Chambers of Tradesmen and Craftsmen, emphasized the importance of these now-traditional shopping days for Konya's commerce. He expressed his gratitude to the Mayor of the Metropolitan Municipality, Uğur İbrahim Altay, and the district mayors for their continued support of tradesmen and craftsmen.
Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay emphasized that the Bedesten is the heart of Konya, stating, "The Bedesten is the heart of both commerce and culture. With the Bedesten Shopping Days, we aim to both increase the commercial activity of the Bedesten and provide added value to our shoppers. Hopefully, with the launch of these shopping days today, commerce will become even more vibrant."
As part of the Historical Bedesten Shopping Days, visitors will be able to experience historical reenactments with symbolic costumes, janissary band concerts, street musicians, antique product stands, and children's activities. Throughout the program, various art demonstrations such as charcoal drawing, ceramics, pottery, glassblowing, marbling, illumination, leatherwork, and calligraphy will also take place.
