The General Directorate of Konya Metropolitan Municipality
Water and Sewerage Administration (KOSKİ) has completed the Hydroelectric Power
Plant (HPP) located at the entrance of the Potable Water Treatment Facility implemented
in Çumra district.
Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur Ibrahim Altay
stated that the hydroelectric power plant installed at the entrance of the Potable
Water Treatment Facility on the Blue Tunnel Potable Water Transmission Line
will be operated by the General Directorate of KOSKİ. He also mentioned that
the power plant has an installed capacity of 1.4 megawatts.
Mayor Altay emphasized that within the scope of the
hydroelectric power plant project, which has started its trial production, the
water taken from the Bağbaşı Dam will be turbine-operated at the HPP to generate
electricity. He stated, "The water source for the power plant is the Göksu
River. The incoming flows from here are transferred to the Closed Basin of
Konya through the Blue Tunnel. The hydroelectric power plant we have installed
at the Potable Water Treatment Facility has an installed capacity of 1.4
megawatts. Currently in the trial phase, once all the processes of our power
plant are completed, we plan to produce 7 million kilowatts of electricity
annually. The facility we have established will operate based on breaking the
pressure of the water at the entrance of the potable water treatment facility
24 hours a day."
