The environment of the city changes with industrial transformation

The environment of the city changes with industrial transformation

The old industrial zone and Karatay industrial zone, which lead to environmental and noise pollution, are being moved from the centre to the out of the city.

Konya with its history is a destination for both domestic and foreign tourists and now it will be a more environmentalist and modern city without noise. Thousands of renter tradesmen will have the opportunity of owning a shop with this change.
The new industrial zone, which is one of the biggest industrial transformation projects in Turkey that will be carried out with the cooperation of Konya Metropolitan Municipality and TOKİ, will be built over 2 million 80 thousand m2. Murat Kurum, the Minister of Environment and Urbanisation, attended the ground-breaking ceremony of new industrial zone and stated that the old industrial zone, which is unlike to the city’s a thousand year historic formation and spoils the urban skyline of the city, gained a modern look with this giant project.

WE ARE BRINGING A NEW INDUSTRIAL ZONE IN THE CITY
Uğur İbrahim Altay, Mayor of the Konya Metropolitan Municipality, expressed that they will place 2 thousand 690 tradesmen in the new industrial zone after it is completed. He stated that “2 thousand 690 tradesmen, who are working as auto mechanics in the old and Karatay industrial zones, will be placed in the new industrial zone. Especially our renters are becoming owners. We are bringing in a huge transformation with the cooperation of Ministry of Environment and Urbanisation, TOKİ and Konya Metropolitan Municipality. I would like to thank to The President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Murat Kurum, the Minister of Environment and Urbanisation for their supports in our project. The new industrial zone will be established over 2 million 80 thousand m2 area and will include 2 thousand 690 workplaces and 134 commercial shops.
