For the first time in Turkey, an industrial site is being built in full compliance with zero waste. It is called as "Konya Zero Waste Industrial Site".
Murat Kurum, Environment Mu and Urbanization Minister, pointed out that "the Old Industrial site in the center of Konya and Karatay industrial site cause traffic problems, air and noise pollution. We have to build climate-friendly industrial sites. We will build sustainable industrial sites that recycle their own waste and will be beneficial for air, water, employment and production. Hopefully this will be in Konya too. We are breaking new ground and building our new industrial site with the principle of 'climate friendly industrial transformation'. This industrial site, we are building, will be the first example of 'climate friendly industrial sites' in Turkey. Here, we will implement 'zero waste industry' practices at every stage. For the first time in Turkey, an industrial site is being built in full compliance with zero waste. In this sense, the name of our site will be Konya Zero Waste Industry Site. In this region, we will realize an important project where all our industrial sites are illuminated by solar energy, rain water is collected and used in garden irrigation and production, and wastewater is purified and added value to production and the city. We call it "Climate Friendly Industrial Zone".
