The Minister Pakdemirli: “Trying in Konya, will be spreading all over Turkey in 2023.”

Bekir Pakdemirli, the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, has informed about income protection insurance, which has been put into practice in the USA and in some European countries, and expressed that “income protection insurance hasn’t been existed in our country. It is known that 85% of agricultural insurances in America have been done over income protection. What is income protection? We can explain simply that you buy a policy. In that policy it is written that “the farmer Mr. Bekir cultivates his field of about 920m2. He gets a determined amount of wheat. If the crop is less than the determined amount, the missing amount will be paid by this policy. We need such a system firstly in strategic crops and then others. The USA and some other European countries have already started this system. We have been trying this system in Konya for two years. Starting from 2023, we will be spreading it all over Turkey. And there is one step beyond. It is contract production. It is a truly structured system in which buyer and seller or buyer and produces come together. It includes various products such as beet, potatoes, and tomatoes. I think that it is important to make it popularize it and eliminate legal deficiencies”.
