100th Robotic Surgery Performed at Selçuk University Medical Faculty

Selçuk University Faculty of Medicine Hospital has achieved a significant milestone in a short time by introducing the Da Vinci Robotic Surgery System, one of the most advanced technologies in modern surgery. The 100th surgery performed using this system was successfully completed.

The first operation using the robotic system was performed by Selçuk University Rector and general surgery specialist, Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Yılmaz. With the successfully completed stomach surgery, the university became a pioneer of robotic surgery in Konya.

Over a 10-month period, advanced surgical procedures on the pancreas, liver, prostate, and stomach were performed using the robotic system.

During this period, the general surgery and urology clinics at Selçuk University Faculty of Medicine Hospital rose to the top ranks globally in terms of the volume of operations performed using the robotic system.

Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Yılmaz evaluated the university’s health vision with the following words: “Robotic surgery is not just a technological investment; it is also a gateway to the future. With this system, we achieve more precise, safe, and rapid results in our surgeries. Reaching our 100th surgery in just 10 months demonstrates both the dedication of our surgical team and the trust our patients place in us. In the coming period, we aim to advance this success even further and establish Selçuk University not only as Konya’s but also the region’s center for robotic surgery.”

The advantages of robotic surgery for patients are as follows: smaller incisions, less pain and blood loss, shorter recovery time, reduced risk of infection, and advanced technology that provides the surgeon with millimeter-level precision.
