‘Finger transplantation’ in Konya has entered into Medical Literature

During the operation at Necmettin Erbakan University Meram Medical Faculty Hospital, the ring finger of the 19-year-old young man was sutured in place of his thumb, which was severed as a result of a work accident.
The ring finger, which has less function, was transferred to replace the severed thumb of a 19-year-old teenager in Konya. Necmettin Erbakan University (NEU) Meram Medical Faculty Plastic Surgery Department Lecturers Prof. Dr. Bilsev İnce and Prof. Dr. Mehmet Dadacı have spent a lot of time on the treatment of the patient who had a serious injury in his hand and lost his thumb as a result of a work accident. Physicians who operated the 19-year-old patient, who lost most of his hand functions due to the rupture of his thumb, transplanted the ring finger, which had less function, in place of the thumb, after approximately 1.5 hours of surgery. The patient, who felt his thumb after 2 hours after the operation, was discharged so that he could use his hand functions. The operation has been published in the scientific journal and entered the literature.
