Prof. Dr. Mehmet Koç, the Provincial Director of Health in
Konya, conducted a general assessment meeting for the first 6 months of 2023 by
gathering district health directors and public health chiefs.
During the meeting, which included statistical data, a
comprehensive evaluation of the districts was conducted, and the goals and
projects in primary healthcare services were discussed for the second 6-month
period of 2023.
Prof. Dr. Koç emphasized their efforts towards providing
quality healthcare services at every point in Konya's central area and its 31
districts. He stated, "In our Family Health Centers and Healthy Life
Centers, essential examination and diagnostic services, women's reproductive
health services, vaccination services, maternal and child health services,
early diagnosis screenings, cancer screenings, smoking cessation clinics,
psychological counseling, healthy nutrition, and obesity counseling, among
other preventive healthcare services, are crucial for the well-being of our
future. Ensuring the effective and efficient continuity of these services is of
great importance."
He also pointed out the significance of delivering these
services comprehensively and urged for their meticulous implementation.
Prof. Dr. Koç, as the Provincial Health Directorate,
highlighted their solution-oriented approach by identifying and addressing the
issues of all districts. He stated, "With the health houses we have
renewed and opened in our neighborhoods, our aim is to enable citizens to have
their daily pregnancy check-ups, access vaccination services, and undergo
treatments like injections and dressings without needing to go to the district
hospital. Therefore, we attach great importance to the services provided in our
Family Health Centers and health houses."
Prof. Dr. Koç pointed out that Konya's maternal and infant
mortality rates have been below the national average, particularly in the last
5 years, which is an indicator of the country's development. He expressed,
"I am pleased to emphasize that our cancer screening rates are also above
the national average. I would like to express my gratitude to all my colleagues
who have contributed to these successful services."
Prof. Dr. Koç also mentioned that healthcare investments in
Konya continue to be rapidly completed in a manner that could serve as an
example for Turkey. He stated, "With the support of the Ministry of
Health, municipalities, and philanthropists, we are continuing our healthcare
investments in every district of our province. With ongoing construction and
projects, we hope to achieve this goal in a short time and further enhance the
services we provide throughout the province."
The meeting, attended by department heads and deputy heads,
concluded with discussions of questions and opinions from district health
directors.
