Home Treatment Opportunity For COPD and Asthma Patients

Home Treatment Opportunity For COPD and Asthma Patients

The R&D and innovation company Promech, operating in the InnoPark Konya Technology Development Zone, produced a negative pressure respirator under the name "Rievent". The device, which was manufactured in 6 months with the support of TÜBİTAK, provides ease of use with its Turkish menu as well as allowing the patient to breathe comfortably. Selçuk Ateş, the company's project manager, said that the device does not require professional knowledge of use and is designed to be used by everyone.

Stating that the product passed the tests successfully and is in the certification stage, Ateş said:

"In the first days, the air sacs of the lungs were hardening in Covid-19 patients who were connected to the respirator. When the patient was attached to the respirator, the alveoli, which hardened and became crystal balls burst. The patient was getting pneumonia as it was known to the public. Since this device allows the patient to breathe as much as its capacity, the possibility of pneumonia disappears. We will make it more ergonomic. It provides home treatment for COPD, lung and asthma patients. The menu is in Turkish, completely a product of local engineering. Its design, software and mold have been made by our company.

"There are 15 million patients who fit the profile of this device"

Ateş stated that “They aim to start mass production after 3 months and they will produce 100 products per month. There are 15 million patients who fit the profile of this device. We aim to reduce the density of intensive care units in hospitals. The cost of imported machines is very high; we want to contribute to the country's economy by pulling it down. "

Stating that the product attracted the attention many people, Ateş said that “We got successful results in our tests on 20 volunteers. We have seen that the amount of oxygen was measured as 60, and this level increased up to 90 in 15 minutes of use. We just couldn't get the result we hoped for in obese patients. When the patient starts to breathe healthfully, the device stops automatically. We also added a phlegm removal program to the device. We are planning to add CPR function to the next version.”
