The Director of Konya Provincial Health, Prof. Dr. Mehmet
Koç, made a statement about the ongoing healthcare investments in Konya. Prof.
Dr. Koç emphasized that they are rapidly continuing their work with the
Ministry of Health, municipalities, and philanthropic citizens to ensure that
there are no outdated healthcare facilities in Konya center and districts. He
said, "While hospital annex buildings in our Kulu, Seydişehir, and Derbent
districts are rapidly rising, construction of the annex building in Akşehir
district will begin in the coming days. The construction of new state hospitals
in our Yunak and Derebucak districts has started, the foundation of the
Beyhekim Oral and Dental Health Hospital has been laid, and significant
progress has been made in the construction of our AMATEM."
Prof. Dr. Koç highlighted that a total of 15 hospital
buildings, including one city hospital, 11 state hospitals, one specialized
hospital, and two hospital annex buildings, have been renovated in Konya over
the past five years. He also stated that 47 family health centers and 41
emergency medical service stations have been modernized and started to provide
services in their modern buildings. "Our city has transformed into a
completely different image with its hospitals and primary health care
facilities. We continue to make intensive efforts to ensure that we have no
district left untouched or outdated health facilities remaining in our city.
With the completion of our ongoing healthcare investments, there will be no
missing healthcare investment in Konya," said Prof. Dr. Koç.
Prof. Dr. Koç stated that thanks to the huge healthcare
investments made in Konya, the city has now become a destination for referrals
from other cities, rather than a referring city. "With the healthcare
investments we have made in recent years, the number of healthcare workers
serving in our city has also rapidly increased. As of 2023, we are serving our
citizens with a total of 21,719 physicians and healthcare workers in public
healthcare facilities in our city," said Prof. Dr. Koç. He concluded his
remarks by thanking everyone involved, including Health Minister Fahrettin
Koca, for all the investments and staff appointments made in Konya.
