Zehra Avan, a student at Necmettin Erbakan University (NEU) Meram Faculty of Medicine, contributed to a scientific study conducted at Hospital de La Princesa, the health institution affiliated to the Autonomous University of Madrid in Spain, where she went within the scope of the Erasmus internship program.

Faculty of Medicine, completed her internship at the Hospital de La Princesa of
the Madrid University in Spain within the scope of the Erasmus program. Avan,
who won the admiration of his teachers during his stay in Spain, took part in
scientific studies.
Scientific study with the contribution of José A. Jiménez Heffernan, Mariel Valdivia-Mazeira, Carlos Gordillo and Lidia Castillo-Gázquez and Zehra Avan, published with the title; “Cytologic features of epithelioid gastrointestinal stromal tumor in a pleural effusion. A diagnostic challenge”.
Zehra Avan, who completed her Erasmus internship, expressed
her thoughts on the subject. Stating that he was happy to contribute to
scientific studies during the internship process, Avan said,
"Participating in the Erasmus program was my high school dream and my
professors at the faculty were very supportive in realizing this dream. Prof.
Dr. José A. Jiménez Heffernan and his pathology team hosted me very well at the
institution where I went for internship in Spain. There I got to know different
cultures and had the opportunity to make very good friends and improve myself
scientifically. I would like to thank my Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pembe Oltulu, whose
support I have always felt, and my university for providing this
opportunity." Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pembe Oltulu, Lecturer at NEU Meram Faculty
of Medicine, said that Avan was a respectful and hardworking student and said,
"I always get positive and beautiful feedback from the centers where Zehra
and my students, whose reference letters I have prepared, go to. Our students
are our source of pride... I would like to take this opportunity to express my
gratitude to all university administrators, especially our Rector Prof. Dr. Cem
Zorlu who supported the projects of the students and paved the way for
them."
