Dr. Mehmet Koç, the Provincial Health Director, stated that
Konya Numune Hospital is the only public hospital performing corneal
transplantation, and he mentioned that highly challenging surgeries are being
successfully carried out at the hospital.
The assessment meeting for the first 6 months of the year
2023 of Konya Numune Hospital was conducted under the presidency of Prof. Dr.
Mehmet Koç, the Provincial Health Director. Alongside Hospital Chief Physician
Assoc. Dr. Halil Ekrem Akkurt, the meeting was attended by all hospital
administrators, clinically responsible doctors, and nurses. During the meeting,
the healthcare services provided at Numune Hospital were discussed with
accompanying statistical data.
Starting his speech by emphasizing that Numune Hospital is
the oldest and most historical healthcare institution in our city, Prof. Dr.
Koç stated, "With both its historical background and central location,
Konya Numune Hospital is a healthcare facility to which our citizens turn
without hesitation. It significantly contributes to our city's healthcare
needs."
Prof. Dr. Koç highlighted that Numune Hospital, with a
capacity of 610 beds, 120 outpatient clinics, 16 operating rooms, and a staff
of 1,995, provided medical treatment to a total of 760,428 patients in the
first 6 months of 2023, including 190,186 in the emergency department. He
further revealed that during the same period, a total of 19,602 surgeries were
performed at the hospital, including 8,124 specialized surgeries.
Prof. Dr. Koç stated that 138 corneal transplants were
performed within the first 6 months of the year 2023. He also disclosed that
during the same period, 1,596 cataract surgeries were carried out. Prof. Dr.
Koç expressed that their goal is to ensure that Numune Hospital is in the best
position according to its defined role. He extended his gratitude to everyone
involved in the hospital's success, from cleaning staff to doctors.
