800-Year-Old Caravanserai Opens as Museum Hotel in Karatay

The 800-year-old "Obruk Caravanserai Museum Hotel," restored by the Karatay Municipality, is opening to the public.


Karatay Mayor Hasan Kılca, expressing their commitment to preserving Seljuk architecture, stated that the 800-year-old caravanserai will enhance the city's allure.


Located at the 70th kilometer of the Konya-Aksaray highway, next to the Kızören Sinkhole with dimensions of 180 meters in width and 145 meters in depth, an 800-year-old Seljuk caravanserai has been transformed into a 13-room hotel after 4 years of restoration work.


The caravanserai, equipped with historical materials ranging from kitchen utensils to tables and chairs, features a Turkish bath with underfloor heating in each room.


Karatay Mayor Hasan Kılca, expressing their commitment to preserving Seljuk architecture, noted that the caravanserai will become one of the city's hallmark assets.
