Konya's Korucu Bridge: Linking Past and Present

Konya's Korucu Bridge: Linking Past and Present

Korucu Bridge is situated between Hadim and Taşkent, along the Hadim-Sazak road, at the junction of the Sazak, Gülpınar, and Sarnıç districts. While local residents believe it dates back to the Seljuk period, experts assert that its architectural features indicate it was built during the Ottoman period, in the 18th or 19th century.

Currently, this historic bridge spans the banks of Gökdere in a northwest-southeast direction. Its elegant semicircular arch rests on natural rock foundations on both sides.

Constructed with rubble stone, the arch is made of cut stone and the railing is concrete. In later years, a two-stage rubble stone masonry wall was added around the bridge to support the pier.

This bridge, preserving its remarkable historical grandeur, is a must-see.
