Lystra's Importance for World History Unveiled

Lystra's Importance for World History Unveiled

Excavation work began at the ancient city of Lystra, one of the most significant cities not only for the history of Konya and Anatolia but also for world history, religions, and Christianity.

Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay, Necmettin Erbakan University Rector Prof. Dr. Cem Zorlu, and Meram Mayor Mustafa Kavuş visited the excavation site, where the world's leading historians and archaeologists have eagerly awaited the results for the past 150 years.

Meram Mayor Mustafa Kavuş, who shared an update on the subject, stated, "We held an informational meeting about the current status of the excavation work at Lystra Ancient City, which is being carried out in cooperation with Necmettin Erbakan University, the Metropolitan Municipality, and Meram Municipality. Located between the Hatunsaray and Botsa neighborhoods, Lystra Ancient City is a crucial center not only for Anatolian history but also for world and religious history. Once the excavation work is completed, our district, rich in cultural heritage, will gain another tourism destination."
