The Historic Akkise Mosque

The Akkise Mosque, also called Friday Mosque by locals, is an old mosque near Ahırlı, Konya. Believed to be one of the oldest mosques in the region, its construction is estimated around 1232 AD.

Recently restored by the Konya Metropolitan Municipality, the mosque boasts a unique combination of history and artistry. Its exterior walls feature captivating reused stones from the Roman and Byzantine eras – depicting figures, animals, and even grapes. These offer a glimpse into the region's rich past.

Inside, the mosque offers a tranquil space for worship. The intricately designed wooden minbar and mihrab showcase the artistic heritage of the community. A small cemetery within the mosque's garden adds another layer to its narrative, hinting at the generations who have found solace within its walls.
