The Erdemşah Mosque is an Anatolian Seljuk period mosque located in Konya. The mosque was erected in 1220 by Semseddin Erdemşah, son of Hacı Ismail, during the second reign of Sultan Alaeddin Keykubad, according to a six-line marble inscription written in beautiful calligraphy above its gate.
Erdemşah Mosque, located in Şükran District, is also known as Kale-i Cerp Masjid among the locals due to the neighborhood's former name. The tomb in the burial site to the south of the mosque is supposed to belong to Kale-i Cerp Sultan.
Erdemşah Mosque is a superb example of Seljuk architecture that has survived to the present day by retaining much of its original form.
This Seljuk Masjid, which consists of a cubical inner courtyard with brick domes on stone walls, was opened and renovated in 2007 with substantial labor; its tile-adorned mihrab was uncovered during this restoration, and its dome was covered with lead.
