Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay has
announced that 349 containers have been placed in the first phase of the Konya
Container City, currently under construction in Hatay.
The construction of container cities, which will be
established in two different regions in Hatay by Konya Metropolitan
Municipality in collaboration with Konya's chambers and district
municipalities, is continuing at full speed.
Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay
stated that they mobilized all resources in Hatay to heal the wounds of
earthquake victims from the first day of devastating earthquakes that mourned
the whole country on February 6th, and announced that the first phase of
container cities consisting of a total of one thousand containers is nearing
completion.
Mayor Altay mentioned that the water and sewage
infrastructure has been completed in the first phase of the container city, and
landscaping and sidewalk works are still ongoing. He stated that they have
reached an important stage in the efforts to meet all kinds of human needs such
as infrastructure, logistics, water works, mobile kitchens, communication, and
energy supply in the earthquake zone. He also said that they will place a total
of 487 containers in the first phase of container cities, which they are
continuing to set up with Konya Chamber of Commerce, Konya Chamber of Industry,
Konya Commodity Exchange, and Karatay, Meram, and Selçuklu Municipalities.
Currently, 349 of these containers have been placed and the remaining 138
containers will be completed as soon as possible and earthquake victims will be
placed there.
Mayor Altay emphasized that work is also continuing for the
second phase container city in Hatay, and that KOSKI teams have largely
completed the infrastructure works there as well.
