The board meeting of SKAL International, one of the most established international organizations for tourism professionals, was held in Konya for the first time outside its headquarters in Spain.
SKAL World President Denise Scrafton, SKAL Board Member Mohan Narayana, SKAL Turkey Director Deniz Anapa, and SKAL Konya President Fatih İşkin, who came to Konya for the meeting, visited Konya Metropolitan Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay.
During the meeting, discussions were held on Konya’s role in international tourism, potential collaborations, and joint projects for the future.
As part of the program, SKAL World President Denise Scrafton and the international delegation visited the Çatalhöyük Information and Welcome Center, established in the city by the Konya Metropolitan Municipality.
The delegation stated that they were highly impressed by the modern information and welcome center of Çatalhöyük, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List, and expressed their great satisfaction in getting to know a historic city like Konya more closely.
Throughout the meeting, Konya’s rich history and cultural values were presented to the international delegation in detail.
During the meetings, SKAL Turkey members also voiced their request for the 2028 World Congress to be held in Konya. Emphasizing that the infrastructure and facilities of the Selçuklu Congress Center are highly suitable for such an event, it was highlighted that hosting the congress would help make Konya more visible in international tourism.
