Konya Launches Culinary Culture Museum Project

A protocol has been signed for the “Konya Culinary Culture Museum and Experience Center” project, which will be implemented through a partnership between Karatay Municipality and the Mevlana Development Agency (MEVKA). Aiming to preserve Konya’s rich culinary heritage and pass it on to future generations, the project is also expected to make a significant contribution to the city’s cultural and tourism potential.

The protocol was signed during the Konya Industry and Technology Projects Launch and Signing Ceremony, held at the Stone Building with the participation of Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır. Karatay Mayor Hasan Kılca and Dr. İhsan Bostancı, Secretary General of the Mevlana Development Agency, signed the agreement for the “Konya Culinary Culture Museum and Experience Center” project. The ceremony was also attended by Konya Governor İbrahim Akın, AK Party Konya MP Mustafa Hakan Özer, and Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay.

Konya’s Culinary Heritage to Be Preserved for Future Generations

The “Konya Culinary Culture Museum and Experience Center” will document Konya’s rich culinary traditions while showcasing regional dishes and beverages that are at risk of being forgotten, ensuring they are passed on to future generations. Through hands-on workshops established within the center, visitors will have the opportunity to discover the traditional flavors of Konya cuisine and experience this culinary heritage firsthand.

Supporting Gastronomy Tourism and Local Production

The project aims to document Konya’s traditional culinary heritage, promote gastronomy tourism, revive forgotten local delicacies, and support local producers and women entrepreneurs. It also seeks to enhance Konya’s international recognition through its food culture, contribute to educational and academic studies, and strengthen the city’s brand value in the field of gastronomy.

The Konya Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism, the Association of Turkish Travel Agencies (TÜRSAB), and the Faculty of Tourism at Necmettin Erbakan University are also supporting the project as partner institutions.

Kılca: We Will Preserve Konya’s Culinary Heritage for Future Generations

Karatay Mayor Hasan Kılca stated that the Konya Culinary Culture Museum and Experience Center represents an important investment in preserving and promoting Konya’s rich gastronomic heritage.

“We will document the culinary traditions that Konya has preserved for centuries and bring our regional delicacies that are at risk of being forgotten back into the spotlight. Through the hands-on workshops at our experience center, we will enable especially our young people and visitors to learn about this culture by experiencing it firsthand. I hope this important project, which will contribute to our city’s cultural and tourism value, will be beneficial for Konya,” Kılca said.
