Konya Governor İbrahim Akın and Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay conducted inspections at the construction site of the Afşar Bağbaşı Hadimi Tunnel and at Yerköprü Waterfall, where improvement works are being carried out by the Konya Metropolitan Municipality.
The delegation was briefed on the latest status of the Hadimi Tunnel, which is 18,136 meters long and will transfer water stored in the Afşar Dam — standing 127 meters tall from its base and with a storage capacity of 364 million cubic meters — to the Bağbaşı Dam.
Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay stated that they inspected the ongoing work at the project site of the Hadimi Tunnel, where construction is being carried out simultaneously on two separate sections — one on the Bağbaşı Dam side and the other on the Afşar Dam side. He emphasized that the Afşar Bağbaşı Hadimi Tunnel is a strategic investment in terms of Konya’s development goals.
Mayor Altay said, “We have brought the stunningly beautiful Yerköprü Waterfall into tourism with walking paths, viewing terraces, and rest areas — all without disturbing its natural structure. We will continue working to move Konya forward in every field. I hope these remarkable projects, which will add value to our city and our country, bring positive outcomes.”
