Konya has been listed among the 7 cities shortlisted for the 2025 European Capital of Smart Tourism award.
The European Union (EU) Commission has announced the names of the cities shortlisted for the “2025 European Capital of Smart Tourism” award. Among a total of 21 candidate cities from 10 countries, the finalists selected are Brussels from Belgium, Genoa and Turin from Italy, Konya from Turkey, Lahti from Finland, Lviv from Ukraine, and Porto from Portugal.
Commenting on the matter, Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay emphasized that Konya is a city with ancient values in terms of history and culture, with a heritage spanning thousands of years. He noted that they are working to promote these values of Konya both in Turkey and around the world, aiming to maximize the city’s tourism potential.
