On the anniversary of the Israeli regime’s genocide in Palestine, tens of thousands of people in Konya filled the streets in an event organized by the Konya Metropolitan Municipality to raise their voices to the world against the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza.
On the anniversary of Israel’s attacks against the Palestinian people and the resistance of Gaza’s population since October 7, 2023, Konya once again became the voice of conscience.
During the historic demonstration on the streets of Konya, participants carried placards bearing the names of babies and children martyred in the massacres in Gaza, along with banners showing support for Palestine and Gaza.
Throughout the march, loud war sounds were simulated, allowing participants to feel more deeply the fear and despair experienced by the people of Gaza. In addition, streetlights along the main route in the heart of the city were turned off.
Sharing his feelings after the demonstration, Konya Metropolitan Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay stated that Konya has raised a strong voice against Israel’s oppression in Gaza for the past two years and thanked all the people of Konya who responded to the call and filled the squares.
