“LCOY2025” with the Participation of Climate Ambassadors Officially Commences in Konya

The Local Conference of Youth – National Youth Conference (LCOY2025) has commenced in Konya, organized with the support of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, Konya Metropolitan Municipality, UNICEF, and several civil society organizations.

Speaking at the opening of LCOY2025 held at the Selçuklu Congress Center, Konya Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Secretary General Mustafa Yazlık emphasized that the event, hosted by the Metropolitan Municipality, carries significance not only for the future of Türkiye but also for the world.

Yazlık noted that climate change has reached a point where it is no longer just an environmental issue but a global challenge affecting the economy, health, agriculture, and all aspects of social life. He stated, “In this regard, the national youth conference provides a valuable platform to engage in dialogue with young people, who are the guarantors of our future, to raise awareness, and to develop long-term solutions.”

LCOY is a global youth initiative supported by YOUNGO, the official youth constituency of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). It encourages young people to gain knowledge on climate change, sustainability, and environmental policies, while fostering the development of solution-oriented approaches. The LCOY events held in Türkiye aim to ensure that young people contribute to national and international climate policies, actively participate in decision-making processes, and make their voices heard in global negotiations.
