Mayor Altay: "We are Working to Equip Konya with New Rail System Lines"

The Konya Metropolitan Municipality is intensively continuing work on the City Hospital-New Industrial Site Tram Line, which constitutes the first phase of the Stadium-City Hospital Tram Line Project. Konya Metropolitan Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay inspected the rail system line and received updates on the current progress of the work.

After the inspection, Mayor Altay stated that they are making significant efforts to enhance Konya’s existing 27-kilometer rail system. He explained, “As part of the first phase of the City Hospital–Stadium Rail System Line, we are carrying out uninterrupted work on the 11.1-kilometer Adliye-City Hospital-New Industrial Site line. Hopefully, we plan to complete the construction by the end of 2025.”

Mayor Altay noted that they have completed protocols with the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure for the second phase, which will extend from the New Industrial Site to the Stadium. He stated, “The main goal here is to increase the number of people we transport through public transit. In particular, we are introducing new rail system lines to our city to alleviate the traffic congestion that will arise with the relocation of Karatay Industrial and Old Industrial areas to the New Industrial Site.”

The City Hospital-New Industrial Site Tram Line Project, which will include 13 stops, will span a length of 11.1 kilometers. As an extension of this line, the New Industrial Site-New Stadium section will also be implemented by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure.
