The Obruk Caravanserai Museum Hotel, reopened as a museum hotel after an extensive restoration process by Karatay Municipality, has been honored with the "Project Award" by the Union of Historical Towns.
Karatay Municipality's efforts to enhance the district's tourism potential continue to yield results. The 800-year-old Obruk Han, one of Konya's significant historical landmarks, reopened its doors as a museum hotel in June following an extensive restoration process carried out by Karatay Municipality.
Since its opening, the Obruk Caravanserai Museum Hotel has become a key destination for thousands of local and international visitors. The project has been honored with the "Project Award" by the Union of Historical Towns. Karatay Mayor Hasan Kılca stated, "We will continue our efforts to preserve and promote the rich historical heritage of our city and contribute to national tourism."
Karatay Municipality was recognized at the annual "Competition for Encouraging Projects and Practices to Preserve Historical and Cultural Heritage," organized by the Union of Historical Towns.
Karatay Municipality participated in the competition organized by the Union of Historical Towns, which works to preserve cultural heritage awareness in Turkey. Within this scope, the Obruk Caravanserai Museum Hotel project—designed to protect historical, natural, and cultural assets, ensure their transfer to future generations, and integrate them into tourism—received great admiration and appreciation from the Union, earning the esteemed award.
